Hinatazaka46 - Kimiwooboetenai I thought MV was extremely good for the first 3 and half minutes when it had that old Victorian concept in costume, styling and make up but then when you had that transition to CG brightness and artificiality it totally lost me. It was Kpop revisited and I had to check the ending credits to see if they had a hand in there but they didn't appear to. Sorry but they passed me a messed up salad. Song is okay. Shame they ruined what could have been a very good MV. I realise their intent is to transition into something bright and airy but they had to find a better way. Of course this is just my take. Perhaps they need to take a look at the old Michael Jackson MV Black or White and the many different transitions in that one and get some pointers from that.

It's interesting how different people like different things. i would never choose Danso or the fashion competition segments as one of the best, although I'm sure girls probably enjoyed them a lot. Also, I don't like seeing the girls have to eat something disgusting or put bugs in their mouth at all. There are so many funny and interesting things they've done, like the "common sense test" in which the girl tries to get one of the top five answers to a question 100 high school girls were asked about, for example, "what guys do that is the biggest turn off", and she is on a moving chair that stops at the number her answer was, otherwise she gets a pie in the face at the end, or "eliminate the idiot" where they ask the girls some obscure question from school, and if no one gets it a poor victim girl gets hit by a huge blast of creme from a tank, or Meshibe Ohori walking around in remote places in a sexy nightgown trying to sell her CD, or one of the girls surprising a high school or college guy who is a big fan by showing up unexpectedly at his house or dorm and doing something he asks, or suddenly appearing and pretending to be his girlfriend in front of his friends at a karaoke place, or the hilarious hypnosis skits; there are so many great ones. It seems like these shows happen from time to time; there was Onyanko Club's "Yuuyake Nyan Nyan" and Morning Musume's "Hello Morning" before AKBingo. Idols are still huge in Japan, and I hope they can have another big show like AKBingo soon.

Welcome back Jimmy! I'm not loving the Hinatazaka46 release nor their profile photos. I think they've missed the mark this time around after doing so well with "Kimi ha honeydew". It's a shame. I thought this was going to be a great year for the group. Just my humble opinion. On the contrary, loving "Cheat Day" by Nogizaka46. That 'Gomen nasai' part sticks in my head.

Jimmy-san, can you explain what it was that Miku said during the batsu? Then Miipan used it in her sketch after. I know the innuendo and context, but wanted to know exactly what she said and what Okada Keisuke said after Miku’s part (he repeated two things often to get laughs from the girls and the staff).

In our defense, peppers are native to mexico and central america, so for thousands of years, we just added spicy peppers in literally everything, even our candy. lol

Kakehashi Sayaka. Why did they wait so long to announce the graduation? The standard Nogi contract is 5 years and the accident happened at work. She got paid to recover and get on with her life. This is a cultural thing, so I do not mean to offend. I have a hard time with the "face" culture in Asia like the Kakehashi Sayaka accident. For years Sony management claimed it was a minor injury. They kept it quiet on how extensive the accident was. We had SEIGO blame the girls for the accident. Still today you see Nogi perform concerts where the girls are high up without any safety rails. In the US and EU, Sony would be sued for tens of millions. My understanding of Japanese culture is that suing/getting paid is not part of their way of life. Instead, the company took care of Sayaka until her contract ended. I wish they were more transparent and tried to escape "face" culture. It is not about putting blame on people. You admit problems so that you can solve them and get better. I have moved to Asia and the Face culture is something that is a culture clash. My original culture is that you point out problems. Not to put blame, but to learn and improve. The straight-up lies you hear to just "save face" are so stupid. If you raise your voice when you are irritated. According to their culture, you have lost. So I am the idiot for raising my voice because someone just straight-up lies to save face. Sony should act better. I think management has a classic problem with an old way of hierarchy. For them the Nogi girls are expendable. Just bring in another generation. Pay them 10 dollars an hour for the first five years. Rake in billions. I love the Idol culture. But the Idols actually need a union or something. And compared to the thousands of other Idol groups. Sony is probably among the better at treating the talent. At least Sony does not charge the girls for singing and dance lessons other Idol groups does.

How good was it to see the Nogizaka46 grad farewell for Kakehashi Sayaka on RUclips earlier. I have to hand it to them. This is how to say farewell to a very loved member. It was nicely executed and as a fan I was happy to see her perform one last time.

Another thing that surprised me with this mass graduation, I was expecting that Shiho Kato and Kumi Sasaki would depart together. Perhaps Kumi as Captain felt like she couldn't leave too with so many already leaving at once. The dynamic in the studio will be very different. I can see how the focus has more and more been put on the 4th gen members so management are pretty much gently giving the more senior members a 'last drinks' subliminal message?

Just watched the new video from Nogizaka46 5th Gen, 熱狂の捌け口, nekkyou no hakeguchi. Very nice video, I like the style of it and I love the outfits. The Idols look great. The song is pretty good too. I give the MV and Song 10/10. Of course that rating has nothing to do with the fact I am a Miku Oshi, nothing at all.

One of the things that surprised me about the new Hinatazaka46 single is not the fact that it will probably be the last for the 4 members that will be graduating. But the fact that of the 4 graduating members only 3 will be im the senbatsu. Hamagishi Hiyori was not selected. You would think if this will be her final single, she would be included. What a shame.

The news I didn't want to hear I've heard. Kakehashi Sayaka is graduating. I am sad for my own selfish reasons because I would have loved to watch her perform and entertain us for years to come but, in the same breath, I understand and wish her the very best for her future. There is more to life than being an idol so good for her for discovering what she wants and going after it. Thank you Kakehashi Sayaka! 😊

I enjoyed Nogizaka46's Cheat Day MV and song. Like the outdoor shoot and atmosphere and just a nice fun song.

Did you foresee the 4 Hinatazaka46 graduations? What do you think? Honestly, I thought Nibu would be the first. She seemed different after her hiatus. Still lively, but I could sense something amiss or lacking from her usual self at times. Sad to see so many go at once.

how cool is it that BokuAo & Nogi both have anime songs at the same time! Nogizaka got the OP for ATRI - My Dear Moments & BokuAo has the ED for the new Fairy Tail! i like both songs and am watching both anime. i downloaded the BokuAo song and it sounds like every other BokuAo song which is fine with me. i have not found a full version of the Nogi song (perhaps it will be a coupling track for the next single?) but it sounds good. As far as the anime goes, well, Fairy Tail is still Fairy Tail, i think fans will be happy about it. it's pretty fun and they got right into the story right away. kind of lowkey enjoying it. ATRI has a lot going for it visually and the female lead is hilarious but the male mc is pretty freaking annoying so far. the story has too many elements (it's a post-eco-disaster/robot/romance/mystery/psychological/drama/comedy). the show somehow reminds me of Air or Kanon era KyoAni. i haven't been able to catch your podcasts regularly lately but i have more time now so looking forward to more Sloping!

I noticed Sakurazaka46's latest single "Jigōjitoku" has made a considerable jump in sales which is good news. Triple platinum, >750,000 units sold! Nice to see.

I've been watching a lot of Rough x Laugh content on RUclips and I think their variety episodes are worth having a look. They use good ideas that the 46 groups could quite easily use. In their latest episode you had one of the members act as a reporter while taking part in the ANA Blue Hangar Tour. It was super funny because she has this cute clueless image and it was utilised so brilliantly. It's good because it is removed from the same old stale studio atmosphere you see week in week out. It's basically a reaction video of what she does during the tour with a small quiz element. Sometimes when I watch the 46 variety shows I think the production team has become lazy because they basically copy and paste episodes from the past such as the holding the frog episode. For me, it is only mildly funny because there is no surprise element any more.

I think the Sakurazaka46 production team needs to get a bit more creative with their hit campaigns. Climbing a mountain as a challenge is plain lazy. It's been done so many times it has lost its novelty and appeal. Having said that it is still better than Nagi Inoue's hit campaign. That was a guaranteed cure for insomnia that kept giving week after week. This is my constructive criticism.

I found myself rewatching the Okada Keisuke segment, with dodgeball and those hit have to do what is on their jersey (I think at 5:13:00 Kanemura Miku’s answer got a rise out of the girls and the staff) and Okada plays it perfectly. Then later during some sketch thing Mirei uses Miku’s answer. Hidden fun is Watanabe gets pelted twice with dodgeballs, and everyone gets a laugh at Sumire’s response. Pretty fun (can’t remember which vid, but the countdown timer was at like 2 hours left). Great show boys, as always.

My recommendation for the Hinatazaka46 46hour show is Marie Morimoto's segment with the tourists. You'll find it in the 2nd upload at around 38:20. It's gold. 👍

NMB48 are doing a season 2 of their tourist assist concept. Nice one. Though I think Marie Morimoto from Hinatazaka46 executed this concept in such a good way. I love that different Jpop groups are willing to do this type of challenge for us international fans to enjoy.

With the 46 hour tv shows, are they normally broadcast on RUclips? I always thought they were behind a pay wall of some sort. I always thought you had to be a registered fan member and watch it through their Showroom or whatever fan streaming service they use. The Hinatazaka46 show from the other day was the first one I'd watched live because it came up on my RUclips feed. It was fantastic.

How great was Hinatazaka46's RUclips channel!!! I was amazed when they broadcast their 46hour show on RUclips. Such wonderful funny content and live performances. This is the best surprise I've had in a very long time because I didn't even realize they were going to do this until it came on my feed. The best! 👍 Loved Morimoto Marie's English challenges too. She is great! This surpassed NMB48's efforts by a long way. Her interactions and confidence made for great viewing. Absolutely loved it.

I saw on her instagram that our graduated captain Yuka Sugai attended Day 1 of the 4th Arena tour watching it with Teruyuki Tsuchida. Perhaps, she will appear in an upcoming episode of Soko Magattara, Sakurazaka? I hope so. It would be nice to see. I liked when Nogizaka46 showed something like this when some of their graduated members returned to watch and participate as guests at a concert.

Jigoujitoku - I gave the MV 7, the song 7. The new coupling retro sounding song Aishiainasai, I gave the MV 7, the song 6 (maybe 7). It's a strong B side for sure. The more I listen to it, the more I appreciate it. It doesn't have the WOW impact that Jigoujitoku has but it has that long lasting playback durability that I enjoy. It will make its way on to my playlist that I listen to when running.

Have you noticed that the last 3 Sakurazaka46 title songs has a glasses scene to kick it off? Ikutsunokoronimodoritainoka? Ten chan drinks what looks like a glass of tomato juice Jigoujitoku - Shizuki drinks a glass of water Shoninyokkyu - Hikaru breaks her eye glasses (Okay, this one is a bit of a stretch) I'm looking forward to how the next title song will begin.

Another great ep gents. Was nice of Yoko to stay the whole show, what with her being center now and all…. As for the natto, do you guys remember a show with the young 48 members and Suto Ririka saying bc she was a starving student, she’d eat natto mixed up with shredded cabbage and it tasted like corn flakes. The host (I forgot the show) tried it and agreed. Maybe that will help you guys with it. Thanks again for providing the laughs, and have a good one.
